The first planned city of India, Chandigarh is the capital of the states of Punjab and Haryana, but is a part of neither, as it is a union territory directly administered by the Central government of india. Located at the foothills of the Sivalik range of the Himalayas, it serves as a gateway to the several Himalayan mountain destinations. The city itself boasts of fine architecture, perfect planning and is dotted with parks, gardens, monuments and other buildings, that can be credited to the Swiss-French architect Le Corbusier.
