His Holiness the Dalai Lama resides at the Tsuglag Khang, commonly referred to as the Dalai Lama Temple complex. Located in McLeodganj, the complex includes a prayer hall with a large Buddha idol, the Tibetan museum and the residence of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. His Holiness is said to make occassional public appearances and address the audience.
Adorning the compound are an array of prayer wheels, a turn of which is considered equivalent to the recital of a line of prayer. There is also a giant prayer wheel, colorfully painted all around.
The Tibetan museum has a very large collection of photographs narrating the history of Tibet and its plight under the Chinese occupation. There are powerful monuments to the Tibetan martyrs just at the entrance of the complex.
