The City Palace is a collection of buildings that include museums, residential quarters of the royal family of Jaipur and a few temples. Impressively decorated archways, courtyards and gardens are a part of the palace complex.
The initial structure was built in the early eighteenth century by KIng Sawai Jai Singh, and later additions were made by successive rulers. The most visited and prominent buildings inside the complex are Chandra Mahal, Mubarak Mahal, Diwan E Khas and the Palace museum.
The palace complex is home to the colorful and artistic 'Peacock Gate', as well as two large silver urns (of 4000 litres capacity), which hold the Guinness record for being the world's largest sterling silver vessels.
