About Ooty

Ooty (short for Uthagamandalam) is a hill resort in the Nilgiris mountain range of the Western Ghats. The landscape of Ooty comprises of innumerable hills, dense vegetation, tea gardens, waterfalls, pine forests and lakes. Doddabetta, near Ooty, is the fourth tallest mountain peak in South India.

The tourist attractions include the meticulously maintained botanical gardens, amazing views from the hill tops and peaks, boating in lakes and reservoirs, and the pleasant weather around the year, offering respite from harsh summers. Nearby hill towns of Coonoor and Kotagiri offer their own travel attractions as well. Also, there are wildlife reserves nearby such as Mudhumalai, Avalanche and Bandipur, with a variety of flora and fauna.
