Puducherry has a nice beach that stretches a few kms and there is an adjoining paved road with wide sidewalks, that is popular with tourists and locals alike. Here you may find walkers, joggers, cyclists, roller skaters and kids on scooters, all having a gala time. This stretch is also closed for vehicular traffic during peak visiting hours, to ensure safety and to enhance the visitor experience.
The coastline is packed with black colored rocks, to withstand the intense waves and to prevent sea erosion. There are seats along the promenade for people to relax and enjoy the sea view and breeze. There are interesting dining and snacking options for foodies as well.
The stretch is also dotted with important monuments such as statues of historic figures, memorials and a dias where cultural performances are conducted on weekends.
