About West Bengal

West Bengal, a state in the Eastern India, is the fourth most populous state. It comprises of the Ganges delta, coastal Sundarbans forests and the Darjeeling Himalayan hill region. Kolkata, which is the capital city, is home to many British monuments and architecture. There are many terracotta temples across West Bengal, which are built using the unique Bengali architecture that is local to the state. The Himalayan region is dotted with hill stations and hosts the famous Darjeeling Himalayan railway. Sunderbans in the south comprises of the world's largest coastal mangrove forest, which also contains a tiger reserve. The coastal belt also has many famous beaches. West Bengal is known for its famous sweets and for its cultural elements such as the renowned Durga Puja festivals.
